The evening aarti is at 5:30 PM, every day, and the cultural evenings run through the Puja. This is the gathering at the evening Puja last year.

The 2025 Puja was held at Shalini Ground, Jayanagar 5th Block. This year it is at HAL Kalyana Mantapa, and you are invited.

Cultural exchange

Kannada–Axomiya WordWalk

Large hoardings along the walkway taught visitors everyday words in Kannada and Axomiya side by side, each paired with a landmark from Karnataka and from Assam. A small step towards speaking each other's language.

Every day of the Puja

Daily bhog, for everyone who comes

Bhog follows the anjali and is served to every visitor, cooked by cooks who travel down from Assam, on biodegradable plates. There is no pass and no ticket, and nobody is asked to give anything. Prasad for all, with love and blessings.

Together we feed. Together we celebrate.

Durgapatra Abhiyan is AAB’s initiative to serve lunch to the underprivileged during Sree Sree Durga Puja. The Puja shares its bhog with children from nearby orphanages, and anyone can be part of it.

Vijaya Dashami 2025

Red on every face, before Maa leaves

Last year, on Vijaya Dashami, the community gathered for sindoor khel before Devi Durga’s visarjan. This year, sindoor khel is at 12:30 PM on Wednesday 21 October.

A registered, non-profit, non-political socio-cultural association of the Assamese community in Bengaluru. We keep Durga Puja, Bihu and Bhogjora on the calendar, publish URULI twice a year, teach the language to children growing up in Kannada and English, and turn up when Assam needs help.

Why the association exists

Four things we are trying to do

  1. Preserve and promote

    Celebrate Assamese traditions, art and heritage, and keep them practised rather than remembered.

  2. Build community

    Strengthen the bonds among Assamese residents of Bengaluru through events, classes and everyday help.

  3. Foster exchange

    Encourage cultural harmony with Karnataka's own social fabric, in both directions.

  4. Enable growth

    Offer a platform for connection, collaboration and progress to every family that joins.

Some of this began as a single decision at one Puja and became permanent.

If you are Assamese and you live in this city, this is your association.

Membership brings you the invitations, the magazine, the classes and the people. It is also how the association pays for the Puja, the relief work and the classes it runs for free.
